Research
The key aspect of the research at the Institute for Science and Technology of Metals (WTM) is the development of metallic materials and their process technology. Within this field, the institute is especially searching for ways to produce components from newly developed materials. WTM is focused on casting and powder metallurgical production technologies. When a new process technology is well understood and controlled, new materials can be developed, that are customized to this specific process. Simulation methods gain more and more interest in our research. Beside simulation techniques, material analysis and material testing are further fundamental methods available at the institute.
The institute currently comprises three groups:
